Introduction to Laser Refractive Surgery

Vincenzo Maurino MD BQOphth AMRCOphth is Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and works in private practice in London. He is Visiting Professor of Cornea Surgery at the prestigious Medical School of the University of Rome, Tor Vergata.

During his 15 years at Moorfields he has successfully completed fellowships in glaucoma and cataract urgery and an eighteen-month fellowship in refractive surgery and corneal transplant surgery. Mr Maurino is one of the few surgeons to have completed specialist fellowship training in refractive surgery and has gained the Royal College of Ophthalmology’s Certificate of Competency in Laser Vision Correction.


][As Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon to the Corneal, Refractive and Cataract Service his principal areas of expertise include corneal transplant, refractive surgery and cataract surgery performed with latest small-incision technology. He is also the Lead Consultant at the Moorfields Cataract Centre and has been Training Director for Cataract Surgery at Moorfields. In private practice Mr Maurino is an internationally renowned specialist in Refractive Surgery – both wavefront laser surgery (LASIK and LASEK) and intraocular surgery (ICL – Intraocular Contact Lenses, and RLE – Refractive Lens Exchange) for the correction of short sight, long sight and astigmatism.
